Top Owner, Trainer and Breeder Has Well-Bred Filly in Action

AJAX DOWNS, JUNE 9 2026 – There is a full card of Quarter Horse racing on tap this Wednesday, June 10 for Ajax Downs’ sixth day of the 2026 season with nine races set to begin at 3:30 p.m. One horseperson who will be extra busy is James Bogar of Cameron, ON., thetrack’s leading breeder the past three consecutive seasons.
Bogar, who trains his own horses has starters in four races, perhaps none more intriguing than his first-time starter BABY ON FIRE in the first race.
Baby On Fire, a 3-year-old filly, is a daughter of the greatest stallion in Quarter Horse history, First Down Dash, who has sired over 1,400 winners, 263 stakes winners, and six winners of the prestigious All American Futurity. A Grade 1 stakes winner on the track, First Down Dash passed away from old age in 2010, but through artificial insemination and embryo transfer, mare owners have been able to ‘breed’ to the stallion.
Bogar leased a recipient mare carrying a foal by First Down Dash from the stakes-winning, and stakes-producing mare Tres of Linda by Tres Seis and the mare produced a flashy sorrel filly who will make her debut on Wednesday.
“She is training well,” said Bogar. “I hope she [does] it, but as you know, you never know.” Ismael Mosqueira has the mount on Baby on Fire.
Bogar’s other three entrants on Wednesday’s card are also unique; Jeronemo, another first-time starter, (race 2), Fishin for Coronas (Race 6) and Caviar On Ice (race 9) are all full siblings. Each one is by Bogar’s own stallion Caviar and Corona and produced by his talented mare Ice Fishn.
Wednesday’s featured eighth race is an intriguing rematch between Niigaanii, stakes winner The Batmann and Elvis the Famous, the 1-2-3 finishers in 300-yard allowance race on May 20. This week, they race 250 yards.
